Consultations — With our Vets

At Tanilba Bay Vet, anticipate a warm welcome and professional care during your consultation. Our cozy reception ensures a relaxed start for you and your furry pals. You'll be greeted by our skilled veterinarians in our dedicated consulting rooms, aiming to ensure both you and your pet feel at ease and at home.

For everyone's safety and comfort, we kindly ask that dogs be on a lead and cats in secure baskets while in our waiting area. This helps create a serene, stress-free environment for all pets awaiting their appointments.

Medical and Pathology

Tanilba Bay Vet is equipped with the latest and most advanced pathology technology available to veterinarians. Our in-house capabilities include blood biochemistry analysis, blood cell counting, clotting time assessments, and cell morphology analysis using cutting-edge technology, ensuring the most accurate results for lumps, urine, and blood tests.

Tanilba Bay Vet partners with the top external laboratories in Australia to deliver the highest quality diagnostic results for your beloved pet.

Dentistry

Tanilba Bay Vet boasts a dedicated dental suite equipped with the cutting-edge IM3 dental equipment. Whether your pet requires a scale and polish to maintain healthy, bright teeth or more extensive dental procedures, including extractions, we have the tools necessary to provide top-notch care.

Our facility also includes a full IM3 dental x-ray machine, allowing us to assess what’s happening beneath the gum line. Often, x-rays are essential for a complete understanding of your pet's dental health.

Radiology and Ultrasonography

Tanilba Bay Vet is equipped with the latest digital x-ray technology, featuring two advanced x-ray machines. The first is the Metron digital x-ray system, which serves the majority of the practice's x-ray needs and utilizes AI technology for enhanced diagnostic accuracy. The second machine is the IM3 dental x-ray, specifically designed to image teeth and surrounding structures, ensuring optimal results during dental procedures.

Additionally, we have an in-house veterinary ultrasound machine, which plays a crucial role in the diagnostic process for certain cases.

For more complex situations that require further investigation, Tanilba Bay Vet also collaborates with referral radiology services for CT and MRI scans.

Desexing — Dog and Cat

A Wise Choice for Your Pet's Health and Well-being

Every year, the number of puppies and kittens born surpasses the available loving homes. This leads to thousands of healthy animals facing unfortunate fates. De-sexing your dog or cat not only curbs the surplus but also offers a safe solution, preventing behavioral issues and various health conditions.

What's Involved?

Under general anesthesia, our vet performs castration for males and spaying for females. Your pet will need to fast overnight before the procedure to ensure a smooth surgery. For males, castration involves a scrotum incision to remove the testicles. Spaying in females entails a single abdominal cut to remove ovaries and the uterus. Once your pet has recovered from anesthesia and without complications, they should be ready to return home in the afternoon.

Benefits of De-Sexing

For Females:

  • Stops heat cycle bleeding and related behavioral changes

  • Reduces risks of mammary cancer, false pregnancies, and uterine infections

For Males:

  • Mitigates antisocial behaviors linked to sexual maturity

  • Cuts down the risk of prostate and testicular diseases
